The series documents iconic moments from the legendary quarterback’s 20-year career in the NFL. Each episode deconstructs Brady’s Super Bowl appearances with firsthand accounts from the icon himself. Why 'Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez' on Netflix Is So Worth Watching
January 2020
The documentary ‘Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez’ is a master class in editing
The Netflix docuseries makes a powerful argument, and a big part of that is production value. The narration of the story, from Aaron’s childhood up until his final moments, is presented in a way that is accessible to those unfamiliar with Aaron Hernandez or football in general. But it also provides new perspectives and nuanced takes to the plot for those who have followed Hernandez’s trials and tribulations from the beginning. It’s an ever-complicated, horrific story, told in a way that’s engaging, empathetic, and educational. (And that’s a hard line to walk.)

Editing a Revolving Documentary
POST MAGAZINE
June 2018
I became the editor of this project in June 2016. From the beginning, director Dexton Deboree and I discussed how we didn’t want this to be purely a sneaker doc, nor did we want it to be a sports doc. We wanted this to be an intriguing, multi-layered story about people. We knew pieces of the story and the overall arch that we wanted to achieve. What we didn’t know was how we would get there stylistically, and how all the personal stories would connect; with the main plot being that this shoe (largely what it stood for) changed people’s lives.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been captivated and inspired by the power of films. When figuring out my career, I had the mindset that the film industry was only for a privileged few. I had the notion that it was not attainable to me or anyone outside actors and directors living in Los Angeles. In high school, I remember editing home videos and trailers to my favorite movies. I did not view editing as a career; I simply loved the creative power of watching others enjoy something I’d spliced together on VHS tapes.
