The series documents iconic moments from the legendary quarterback’s 20-year career in the NFL. Each episode deconstructs Brady’s Super Bowl appearances with firsthand accounts from the icon himself. Alex used Premiere Pro and Productions to chronicle Brady’s milestones, combining testimonial interviews as well as previous NFL and Super Bowl footage.

Why 'Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez' on Netflix Is So Worth Watching
January 2020

The documentary ‘Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez’ is a master class in editing

The Netflix docuseries makes a powerful argument, and a big part of that is production value. The narration of the story, from Aaron’s childhood up until his final moments, is presented in a way that is accessible to those unfamiliar with Aaron Hernandez or football in general. But it also provides new perspectives and nuanced takes to the plot for those who have followed Hernandez’s trials and tribulations from the beginning. It’s an ever-complicated, horrific story, told in a way that’s engaging, empathetic, and educational. (And that’s a hard line to walk.)

Unbanned: The Legend of Air Jordan 1 Panel Discussion with Adobe
November 2019

Adobe Premiere Pro hosts a panel discussion about the making of the documentary Unbanned: The Legend of AJ1. Unbanned explores the dynamic life of AJ1 (The original Air Jordan sneaker) from its unlikely origins to its role in disrupting NBA rules, birthing sneaker culture, and influencing a social and cultural revolution. This is the story of a shoe that changed the world. Moderator Margot Nack will talk with Director Dexton Deboree, and editor Alex Trudeau Viriato, about how this story came to life, the unique storytelling and technical challenges along the way.

Editing a Revolving Documentary
June 2018

I became the editor of this project in June 2016. From the beginning, director Dexton Deboree and I discussed how we didn’t want this to be purely a sneaker doc, nor did we want it to be a sports doc. We wanted this to be an intriguing, multi-layered story about people. We knew pieces of the story and the overall arch that we wanted to achieve. What we didn’t know was how we would get there stylistically, and how all the personal stories would connect; with the main plot being that this shoe (largely what it stood for) changed people’s lives.

Voyage LA

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been captivated and inspired by the power of films. When figuring out my career, I had the mindset that the film industry was only for a privileged few. I had the notion that it was not attainable to me or anyone outside actors and directors living in Los Angeles. In high school, I remember editing home videos and trailers to my favorite movies. I did not view editing as a career; I simply loved the creative power of watching others enjoy something I’d spliced together on VHS tapes.
